author

As a writer, I draw on my background as a journalist, an anthropologist and a university professor. I make use of archival work, fieldwork and ethnographic interviews as well as oral histories to document events. In 2021, I published my first book, Imperiets børn (Children of the Empire) – a project supported by The Kim Wall Memorial Fund and the Carlsberg Foundation. The book unveils the official decolonization of Greenland and tells the story of how Denmark succeeded in annexing its former colony. The process included assimilation policies that ‘Danified’, modernized and evicted Greenland’s Inuit population. The book was nominated for the journalism prize Kristian Dahls Mindelegat and received the 2022 award for Historical Book of the Year. After the book’s exposé of Danish policies, the Greenlandic parliament, Inatsisartut, decided to launch an official historical investigation.

RADIO anchor

In my job as an anchor and reporter at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, I cover current events domestic and foreign. I often draw on my knowledge of Greenland to cover the growing conflict within the Danish Commonwealth. I also draw on years of reporting from Argentina, Bolivia, Belgium, Chile, France, Germany, Ireland, Jordan, Luxembourg, Nicaragua, Syria, Turkey and the United States.

journalism teacher

Each year, I organize multiple courses for journalists in storytelling and podcast production. I taught since 2013 particularly courses in reporting, investigative journalism and creative non-fiction. I was a professor at two of the three Danish j-schools for 10 years and I regularly contribute to the Danish teaching literature in the field.
